History  
The first Swede to come to Manatawney, a native American trail leading to Barren Hill, was Peter Lindstrom, in 1656. In 1680, the Court of Upland in England appointed Peter Rambo (a local Swede) to be in charge of maintaining the Manatawana. William Penn visited the area in 1682 and was amazed at how well organized the plantations in Manatawana were. The name was changed in 1690 to Roxburgh and incorporated in 1707 as Roxborough”.

From Irish Rock to Southern Blues the summer series at Gorgas Park has something for every music lover. Roxborough Solstice Festival
On June 21, 2014 as part of Make Music Philly, Roxborough celebrated its first Roxborough Solstice Festival. Special thanks to ShopRite of Roxborough and Roxborough Memorial Hospital for making the event a success. Click here for pictures of the event.
